How many Hoses?

I had a coolant leak spring up yesterday in a nice out-of-the-way place, fun times with the hose spring clamps to say the least. Looks like the 90 days of 115* in last summer's TX heat wave has taken it's toll.

This got me to wondering, if one blows, the others may not be far behind and I should look at the daunting task of replacing every coolant hose as preventative maintenance. I’d much rather replace them under controlled circumstances, in my shop, on a cold motor, than out on the road somewhere while grossing 30k lbs.

Sure, the upper and lower are obvious, along with the feeds to the heater core and the ones at the tank. But, there are several little 3-4” hoses scattered all over that aren’t readily seen….like the one connecting the tube in front to the EGR cooler inlet, underneath the EGR manifold, or feeding the turbo.

So, how many little out-of-the-way hoses do we have?

I'd like to know as well.

By the way, what's your mileage?

I'm right at 140k.

Yeah . . . I was thinking of hot-cold cycling (freeze-thaw?) and surge-purge events.

But, you're right. After time . . . they can fail, running or sitting.

Between Flagstaff & Phoenix . . . I'm due.

If you do the heater core hoses, DO NOT use the parts store Chinese quick disconnects... I had one completely grenade last week after 2 months of use... what a mess coolant in every nook and cranny of the engine and valley. GM ones seem to be much better quality.
