| Fuel Filter? DIC vs. Mileage I am fairly new to the diesel truck world and I have a question about the fuel filter change interval. When I bought the truck it had 54000 miles on it and one of the first things I did was change the fluids and filters. I put a Baldwin fuel filter on. The other day I started my truck and it said to change the fuel filter. I only have 6000 miles on this filter. What does the truck sense to set off the change fuel filter? Pressure? Mileage? Engine Hours? I just turned 2500 hours on the truck. Is there a reset for the fuel filter change sensor when you replace the fuel filter, something I was suppose to do when I originally changed the fuel filter? I've read most people are changing their fuel filters around 10,000 miles. thanks for the help.

| Mileage and Fuel Rail Pressure can trip the Fuel Filter life meter, look around in your manual, if you don't have the buttons on the steering wheel or dash there is a pedal method you can do to reset it. My guess is you didn't reset your life meter and that is why its on. The low fuel rail pressure will trip a fuel filter light and a check engine light.

| we see between 10,000-20,000 fuel filter intervals. On these newer ones people are running them down to at least 10%. That is if you have the ability to see your percentages. Some had that option some didnt

| I agree... Do you have steering wheel controls? There should be a button there to reset it. Also, I never go buy what the DIC says for filter changes. I do the fuel filter and trans spin on every 10,000 then the oil every 5000

| Running a filter too long is a very bad idea for multiple EXPENSIVE reasons..... Change it at least every 10K and stay away from the black plastic wix garbage. Stick with Racor if you're running stock type filters and you're good to go! .

The baldwin filters are actually filtering and clogging (good)......where the wix passes all the bad crap right into the injection system! .

| If u dont have steering wheel controls, like me, its the button in the dash by the gauges. Click it till u get to fuel filter and hold it down for a few seconds. It'll go back to 100%. I go by millage and forget to clear it sometimes. So when it pops up i just reset it.
