Rain water gets in the battery, The water overfills the battery. It really depends on what battery you have & how the vents are designed. My Delcos never did this, But my current Continental does...Real Bad!!!!
Ive been testing this for 6 months, Removed the Continental, Drained the excess water & put it in my Suburban, Sandblasted & repainted the battery tray & Put the Delco from the Burb in the truck, Ran it this way for about 4 months.......Water level fine on the Continental, The Delco wasnt spitting acid all over the battery tray, Great!
Switched the batteries back. Within 2 months the battery tray has battery acid all over it.
Cowl seal is good, Charging system good, Batteries good. Currently running 1 battery, Ponderd relocation...The price of 1/O welding lead quickly ended that.
On the look-out for a plastic cover at work & wreaking yards.
