Replacement Battery Tray

Hey all,

So a few weeks back I noticed I had corrosion on the battery on the passenger side, it covered the battery tray. I had no time to do anything about it until last night. When I went to clean it with some baking soda and water, the corrosion was gone and had done its damage. My tray is rusted and I'll need to replace it. Does anyone know of a place that sells replacement trays for cheap? I'm assuming GMC will charge me an arm and a leg for the thing...

For the passenger side by the firewall? Will it fit my 2001? Why don't you need it, how much do you want?

I need to check mine too. every time it rains my truck leaks rust from the passenger side right underneath the battery. I would assume it is the battery tray. anyone else have this issue?

Mine rusted from the battery not rain. My brother and dad have the same truck and none of us have had issues with rain leaking under the hood and causing rust... and we live in a place famous for rain. Have you checked your weather stripping?

Rain water gets in the battery, The water overfills the battery. It really depends on what battery you have & how the vents are designed. My Delcos never did this, But my current Continental does...Real Bad!!!!

Ive been testing this for 6 months, Removed the Continental, Drained the excess water & put it in my Suburban, Sandblasted & repainted the battery tray & Put the Delco from the Burb in the truck, Ran it this way for about 4 months.......Water level fine on the Continental, The Delco wasnt spitting acid all over the battery tray, Great!

Switched the batteries back. Within 2 months the battery tray has battery acid all over it.

Cowl seal is good, Charging system good, Batteries good. Currently running 1 battery, Ponderd relocation...The price of 1/O welding lead quickly ended that.
On the look-out for a plastic cover at work & wreaking yards.

Remote battery mount

I am interested in mounting a remote battery for my dc-av inverter.
How is yours mounted on the frame? Can you send a picture?

Thanks
Chris Sr.

Just an FYI for anyone else looking for one, I only paid $32 out the door at the dealer for my passenger batter tray. They had it in stock too.

Mine did exactly the same . Got watery acid all over the a arm and tie rod. Looks really awesome now. No way Id ever put a battery with lids in there again. Rain water getting in is my only answer.
