Part 1: Yes, I would suggest getting one, it will save alot of headache from guessing what's really going on. The CS is smaller and uses buttons to navigate while the CTS has a larger screen which has touch navigation (both do the same thing functionally though).

Part 2: Yes, you can clear the code while driving (no pulling over or anything)......again worth every penny IMHO.

Part 2 Another question I had for you is, when you say you can clear the code on the fly....does that mean as soon as the code is set while driving, can I clear it and continue driving on without having to pull over and go in park and switch it off? Also....what all does it monitor and I guess where would I find the info on the parameters of what is in range for my truck for things such as fuel pressure, turbo boost, etc.....what ever Edge monitors. Thanks for any help.....I'm feel like I'm all alone trying to get this thing fixed.... you can respond back at me thru here or better yet loslockamy@yahoo.com....or feel free to text me at 910-214-6900....thanks again

Part 1: Hey man I'm the guy with intermittent 1093 code that you posted some feedback on....I can't figure this thing out...Last thursday and friday I didn't set a code at all. I was off the road yesterday and went back to work today and it did it 3 times.....I'm guessn I'm gonna have to break down and buy an Edge product to monitor it. It only does it when I'm loaded and going up a steep upgrade. Not every time.....it seems to pick and choose when it wants to throw the code. Of course the mechanic can never get it to repeat itself and I'm tired of throwing parts at it.....You suggested me getting a Edge insight CTS or a CS. There seems to be a good bit of $$$ between the 2. Can you enlighten me on what the differences are and what you would suggest. And where do you suggest I purchase it from.

Unfortunately that is the only 2 ways to create the MAF tables the ECM needs.

    1) Tech 2 you will need to use the calibration option to adjust the MAF tables
    2) EFI can update the MAF tables in your tune or have your tuner do it for you

There is no writeup online of how to do this with a Tech 2 that I know, so hopefully that Tech 2 loaner will also come with someone experienced that knows how to use it.

    have a 04 lly, edge, 4" exhaust,egr blocker.

I have done alot of research on the restricted mouth piece on the lly and convinced to change mine. I have a banks LBZ intake and would like to install it along with the LBZ mouth piece. I have been told that if I do this I will have problems with my mass air flow. I was wondering if anyone knew if there is any other system that with recalibrate this other than a Tech 2 or EFI. I have connections to use a tech 2 myself but I don’t know how to use it. If anyone can tell me exactly how to do it on a tech 2 that also would be helpful. Do I just need to do entire system reset on the tech 2 or something else specific with the sensor.

Hopefully someone can save me from giving the dealer 100.00 to do this simple job.

That does sound electrical to me as well. FPR usually causes surging when bad, not rough idle. Temp gauge dancing is another indicator of possible intermittent contact.

Have a look at these for possible issues:
    1) LLY: Main harness connections rubbing???.. - Diesel Place : Chevrolet and GMC Diesel Truck Forums
    2) HELP! Under Hard Accel and Letoff, Fuse blows - Engine Dies - Diesel Place : Chevrolet and GMC Diesel Truck Forums
    3) Duramax Tech: Harness Rub Through | Diesel Truck News
    4) Make sure to check all ground wires as well.

If you need more help, let me know.

Would a fuel pressure regulator cause a rough idle upon starting? Would it also cause the temp gauge to dance around causing the dic to read engine coolant hot & engine overheating when the truck is not thoroughly warmed up? Stepper motor is good, new coolant temp sensor,.good t-stats, no coolant loss, clean oil, new fuel filter, no signs of a bad injector and most importantly the truck isn't overheating nor throwing a CEL to read a code. Seems electrical to me. 2005 lly with 129k. Light duty use, nothing more.
