No a backyard mechanic cant, neither can a dealer. You would have to send them to a speciality shop like exergy, merchant automotive, socal diesel. They need to be flow tested at over 20k psi, most shops cant perform this task.

Thebiggids;1672435]Where did you guys get your injectors from? If you got it from a good place they should be flow tested and calibrated for idle, part throttle, and WOT. My injectors never had break in time and saw good mpg right out the gate. I could see maybe 1-2mpg but 6-7mpg somethings not right.

I have an 03 6.6L duramax also and had my injectors replaced 9000 miles ago. I was getting 22-33 mpg at 70 MPH now I'm still at 14-15 mpg. I'm curious about what you said above about "flow tested and calibrated for idle, part throttle, and WOT". It this something a backyard mechanic can do or is it dealer time now? Thanks

Add pulse width, decrease timing. Some guys screw with the MAF table.

The tune library on diesel place is free, some tunes are good. You can see the posted reviews on them

Sorry my reply took so long. I bought efi live last june from Socal Diesel(Guy tripp). I got it cause I was having problems getting my truck running, anyway. Guy gave me 1 free tune with the purchase which you can review the history of the tune so you can go through and see every change the tuner made from increasing timing or injector to raising your rev limiter. I then looked up on how to do the 20/20 tow tune and started with that. Its really just getting the software and experimenting with it. just make tiny adjustments and data log and make corrections from there. There is also a timing calculator that I use for making my timing tables that you can get offline for free.

Diesel Place has a EFI Live tune library which is also kind of nice, you can test some small tunes and play around with them from there.

I would say get at least one tune done by someone who knows what they're doing. Play around with it yourself like doing a 20/20 tune to get the feel)

I just have a couple of efi questions for you, did you buy your efi with any tunes with it or just buy it and start experimenting? How long did it take to learn the software until you were comfortable doing your own tune. I want to do it but want to know exactly what's involved, all of the posts about efi are so vague and no one talks about exactly how to use it.

    Thanks,
    Brad.
