I received this E-mail over the weekend from the Special Events Performance Series who puts on the Jamboree this coming weekend at the Indiana State Fairgrounds....the 22nd to the 24th. I'm pissed, and so are all of my friends.

NEW FAIRGROUNDS POLICIES ON ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES

Memorandum

TO: All Pre-registered 25th Anniversary 4-Wheel Jamboree Participants
FROM: The Promotions Company and Special Events

Important information regarding Alcohol on the Indiana State Fairgrounds!
Participants are allowed to bring coolers into the show in their vehicle for food and drinks. However, the Indiana State Fairgrounds has forewarned Special Events that the fairgrounds is a licensed premise for the sale of alcohol. Therefore it is illegal to bring in or consume alcoholic beverages on the Fairgrounds which were not purchased on the Fairgrounds.

I really don't remember if they were selling alcohol last year or not. Many of us are debating on what to do. We don't want to spend 5 bucks for a small beer, cuz you know they will dry hump you on price vs quantity. We just can't justify spending that kind of money. I love beer, not a huge fan of liquor....we may end up buying a bunch of fruit drinks and dumping out some and topping them off with some rum or something.

This is a very common policy these days. Its not about drinking, it's about money.

True. As a matter of fact they did not check any coolers or inside of any trucks. Actually I saw a few people walking around with bottles inside of coozies. We just opened our bottles and poured them into cups. Never bothered at all.
