Wanting to know more about the adjustable boost controller from PPE, & is it something that Iwould really get any benefit from?
I do make a couple trips a year out west in the winter, is this beneficial in the altitude?, brings the boost on quicker?, what the consensus on these?
Talked to someone at PPE this morning, they didn't seem all that knowledgable about it(kept having to put me hold or conversing with someone in the background). Did say it was compatible on my 06'LBZ w/Edge, said I needed to check model#, but wasn't really sure about anything else.
I like the idea, but does it really do much for the LBZ-w/VVT.
Thanks in advance, L8r

I personally would not spend the money, You can get a programmer that will give you better boost levels for the money.
My personal experience is,I bought one hooked it in, could not get it to work the way i thought it should,I e-mailed PPE and asked a few simple questions about it. And never ever got a response,Been about 2 weeks. Maybe i am stupid but i wanted to know what the switch did in each position.(On Off)
and what position the switch was to be in when adjusting for boost level. And again NO RESPONSE.I also have there ppe excelerator +2 et and i want to send in to upgrade to the 10 tunes but why spend the money with them and get no support.
sorry for the long read but this is the inside scoop.

Wanting to know more, & your experiences.
I don't totally want to give up on the notion that it may do some good in higher elavations.

Reason: adding more, thanks to bmoss
It will work, but you have to have mechanical guages. The controller fools the computer into thinking its not building enought boost so it will command more. So the boost reading that the attitude monitor or banks PDA receives is a lower number than you are actually getting.
What kind of boost numbers do you get now? If you are already seeing 30 PSI it won't be worth it, because you don't need to run the stock turbo over 32 PSI.

The boost that I've seen, 27psi peak , 23psi maintained.
Which is why I was wondering if it would have any effect as increase in altitude takes away. 3% loss per 1000' approx. on N/A motor, not sure how turbo diesel is impacted. Learning day by day.

Reason: corr.
Well it will help, but you have to consider the damage you might cause to the turbo. It is one thing to add boost at sea level to get 30 PSI, imagine how may RPMs it would be running to get 30 psi at any altitude

That's the kindof things I'm needing to know, can the vvt on these 6.6's be over run? I'm new to these animals.
I like the ideas that you can tweak EGT's &/or boost response, has anyone had 1 in use for awhile.
What to watchout for, quirks, regrets....

Well with the boost controller you can way overboost them. I have been told that the controller can and will run you up to 40 PSI if turned all the way up. The stock charger is only good for up to 32 PSI, but at any eleveation i wouldn't want to even run it hat high.

Will the PPE Boost Controller actually add any power to a stock truck otherwise?
Stock trucks don't generally increase power with more boost alone unless you add fueling .........not sure about the LBZ...(?)
