I know its a tough question to answer, but I will askanyways, how many miles should we get out of our engines??I know there's limiting factors like towing abuse performanc upgrades, but Im asking more generally, someome said these diesels arent really broken in until about the 50 mile mark? Any engine will last as long as you maintain it. Honestly speaking, if you did basic performance upgrades like an economy tune, an exhaust, and a intake along with spark plugs/wires (just kidding) then this really shouldn't hurt the longevity of the engine. I think the question you should be asking is "how many miles are on your Duramax engines?" Some guys may come around with 300K to 400K motors. Like you said, it depends on how you use it and how you abuse it.

if you would like to know how long one will last go to a truck stop around back and look for a guy running one as a hot shot... they usually dump em around 300,000mi but thatís mostly highway which is easer on em even hauling heavy.

if you want to know how quick it can be broken just put it on said hotshot truck and drop it off at ZIP 15801 and I will keep you updated daily...I break stuff with the best of them!:rockin

it depends on what it takes to make it last if you mean no repairs or only minor ones. if you have the money you can rebuild one and spend enough on it to make it last forever. the most i know of on one is a little over 250,000 but alot of gs motors will that long they claim 500,000 so we will have to see
