All these PPE questions could be avoided if you would just call PPE with your questions, but I believe you can upgrade without sending the programmer in.

I just called them yesterday andasked how much it would cost if I want to go from the PPE HOT (I just bought from my neighbor for $150), to the PPE Excelerator economy, and they said send it in and it would be either $100, or $150 to upgrade he was going to call back today with the exact amount. They guys down at PPE are AWESOME to work with!

I know there are probably many of you who are saying "What, are you crazy?", but I really only need an extra couple hundred Ft Lbs of torque for pulling and mileage.

hahahahaahhaa dude why would you want to downgrade??

basically you're paying them money to take stuff off your chip

you know the first few levels wont change right??there is no difference in what you have and the economy chip except you have more levels...the economy chip wont give you more economy then what you have now

the only catch is that this PPE HOT programer is a 2003 vintage, and the only tunes are 130, 160, and like 275 or something like that. There are no other tunes in it, So if I pay $150, from the neighbor, and $150 to PPE( Sorry I forgot to mention that they said they will just send me a PPE Standard), that means I pay $300 total for a $500 sum dollar programer that gives me the tunes I actually want.

I know it sounds crazy but it saves me a few hundred bucks that can pay for a guage or something.
