You would be ''crazy'' to set the Bullydog higher than 80-90 hp,it WILL roast the trans!!You will at the very least need guages,[EGT&BOOST,TRANS TEMP]to keep on the safe side.If you want a new trans quickly, here is my answer: 1.Buy Bullydog 2.Set to Crazy larry setting 3.Drive like ya stole it!! 4.Limp mode 5.Order upgraded trans, and THEN have ya some fun!!!!!!!!!

Personally I think that you would be better off with a PPE tuner. I have ran both and in my opinion the Bully Dog stuff is a little rough around the edges. Shifting is alot harder than what I have seen with PPE stuff. The defuel is very harsh. The crazy larry tune is a rough tune in itself. I think they have made some changes to it but last time I knew, it had some serious timing rattle. Hope this helps.

I figured i was going to need to upgrade the tranny i have read alot of peoples posts saying they are running ppe whats the big differences in them is it just a differently set up program or is it a completely different setup all together. is there possibly a safer way to get the power i want without upgradeing too much in conjunction with the mods i do understand with horse power and torque comes great need for better holding clutches and better supporting components to aid in the power and that the cheapest way is normally the more exspensive way so if there is not a better way iguess ill save to upgradethe tranny as well thanks for the opinions and help

PPE has real smooth power where the Bully dog doesn't. You can get a PPE tuner for about the same money you can get Bully Dog and maybe a little cheaper. Both are internet updateable. The Bully Dog Triple Dog is capable of switching tunes on the fly which is a very nice feature. You do have to be careful when doing this as you will want to let your trans learn before pounding on it. The PPE tuners have some very nice features that the BD doesn't, like allowing you to put the trans into a fast learn and shutting off egr codes.

If you want to run more than a 75 hp tune safely then you will have to upgrade your trans. There is no easy way to do that on a 5 speed allison. You will have to pull the trans and go competely through it including the Tq converter.

I just did a little bit more research into the ppe i think i may just have to go with the hot +2 this seems like the better way to go since i really want alot of power and i have to upgrade the tranny anyway i look at it with the power that i want. i will just have to save some more.
