| Spanked by FireHawk Well, guess I picked on the wrong one. Was pulling onto a 4 lane rural road and seen a pontiac pull out of the post office and could here he had a six speed and getting down. I pulled onto the stretch and early Sunday morning no traffic . Finally cought up to him and pulled up beside and seen it was a firehawk, looked over and he clutched it and gassed it. I put it in manual and down shifted into 3rd and hammered it at 45mph jumped it a couple of trucks and then he down shifted, next thing I know he pulled me the two trucks and 4-5 more before I got out of it at 110. I knew the firehawks ran pretty well in their day, but this one had to have a little done to it, because I was pushing it for what it was worth and he steadily pulled away. Guess its time to look at getting the 72mm and supporting mods.

| It's amazing how easy it is to make a sleeper with an ls engine. You can buy those stupid 5.3L chevy's for next to nothing $200-800, throw a 70mm charger on it at 7psi $1000 w/ wastegate and BOV, some 65lb injectors $350-400, a 2.5 bar map $125, and tune $300-600....BOOM, you have 500-550 crank hp for around $2000-3000... add another $2000 for a built manual valve body TH-400, and you only have as much money into it as a built allison. Then if you need more hp, just throw in a $400 high lift cam, $200 for some stiffer valve springs, and bump her up to 14psi with race fuel to make 600-650 crank hp. |
