Spanked by FireHawk

Well, guess I picked on the wrong one. Was pulling onto a 4 lane rural road and seen a pontiac pull out of the post office and could here he had a six speed and getting down. I pulled onto the stretch and early Sunday morning no traffic. Finally cought up to him and pulled up beside and seen it was a firehawk, looked over and he clutched it and gassed it. I put it in manual and down shifted into 3rd and hammered it at 45mph jumped it a couple of trucks and then he down shifted, next thing I know he pulled me the two trucks and 4-5 more before I got out of it at 110. I knew the firehawks ran pretty well in their day, but this one had to have a little done to it, because I was pushing it for what it was worth and he steadily pulled away.

Guess its time to look at getting the 72mm and supporting mods.

It's amazing how easy it is to make a sleeper with an ls engine. You can buy those stupid 5.3L chevy's for next to nothing $200-800, throw a 70mm charger on it at 7psi $1000 w/ wastegate and BOV, some 65lb injectors $350-400, a 2.5 bar map $125, and tune $300-600....BOOM, you have 500-550 crank hp for around $2000-3000... add another $2000 for a built manual valve body TH-400, and you only have as much money into it as a built allison.

Then if you need more hp, just throw in a $400 high lift cam, $200 for some stiffer valve springs, and bump her up to 14psi with race fuel to make 600-650 crank hp.

Its much easier than that...4.8/5.3...LS9 headgaskets. MP76, 80lb. Stock 02+Z06 Cam. Ebay FMIC and BOV/WG. It will make 550-600rwhp all day long on pump gas around 14-15lbs. One guy made 461rwhp on 6lbs.

One guy on LS1tech named DENMAH..did all that but with a built T400 and a S478 and the car went 9.8s @ 145mph.

I threw a zex kit, small cam, headers on my 96 Z28 on 6 speed with 150k miles on it. I'm a fan of the LT1 cast block, beat the hell outta it and ran thru bottles lol. Clutch didn't last long but Damn lsx FTW
