The Cummins engineer, told me you would most likely see the Duramax surpass the Cummins. I have not talked to that guy in a long time, but I have better sources now.
Whoops, my bad, I read it as out of 100 warranty claims

you totally missed my point humboldlt.... all the trucks have problems... ALL of them... yes I am bashing it to counter what is beind said about ford and dodge, to prove your GM isnt all high and mighty like you think.... my point is still to attack toyota and nissan and leave the american brands out of the attacks...... and the wheel bearing? no problem? tell that to the guys who lost their wheel going down the road....

I can speak from experience, I owned a 6.0 that was in the shop 18 times in 46,000 miles for various issues like turbos, EGR valves, VGT selonoid's etc... the list goes on. All this without a single thing done to the truck performance wise, it was in stock form. It was the most unreliable truck I have ever owned. I had to sue Ford to get them to buy it back. They have a real problem with the 6.0, they advertised it as the most powerful truck in it's class with the highest tow rating when it first came out. Why would we be expected to upgrade head studs, EGR blockers etc... to make it reliable? Ford should have done that at the factory. I took the money from Ford and bought my current truck, I have just over 40K on it and not one return to the dealer for ANYTHING. I will never own another Ford. I will take the IFS for it's ride quality over the solid axle anyday, I would rather replace some bearings every now and then, over breaking down everytime I hit the road.

well oddly enough my GM frontend is holding up way better than I expected
I dont think my GM is high and mighty, I'm not brand loyal. One thing I am sure of is that of the big 3 Fords like to be in the shop more

once you start bashing Toyota and Nissan you lose credibility with people

we had an 05 that was totally stock engine wise, 110k miles when sold not one issue... our 06 we modded has issues, did studs and EGR delete (you dont block a powerstroke) and not one issue since and we are at 102k i think on it now.... thee 6.0 can be reliable.... and yes there are other issues that happen to the 6.0 but when you trace them to the source, 90% are from the head gaskets leaking and blowing... i would rather have my head gasket blow driving down the road and be able to limp it to somewhere safe than have a wheel fall off because my IFS is garbage.... and just because it has a solid axle doesnt mean rough ride... i dont see why you think that

X2. They out last most all competition. Nissan will also have a Cummins in the future. I imagine it will outsell alot of other trucks.

how do you lose credibility? you dont think they have a service dept? you dont think they have warranty claims? look at the first run of tundras... recalled over 100,000 due to massive engine failures... look at the frame of both trucks, they are weak... the final crossmember in the tundra doesnt exists unless you have a tow package...

I knew where this thread was headed

But WTF does it matter, the ford was SCT tuned...Not stock...who really gives a shit. If 100 trucks rolled into a dealer for warranty with a 200+hp tuner installed on them, they'd all be denied...then what would the facts say?
