So I was driving down the road last night and this 6.0 powerstroke is driving down the road in the other direction JUST POURING SMOKE. from a distance I thought it was rolling smoke, but upon rolling down my window there was WAY to much smoke and it smellled way to much like burning oil/coolant. So I turned around and followed the smoke cloud (seriously, a LOT of smoke looked like a house burning down) I was gonna see if he needed a pull home or anything cause I knew for sure that truck wasnt gonna last long. I ended up following the smoke right to his house and then asked him what year it was and he said 2006, then I was like "uh oh" He told me he had an sct programmer on it and a few other things too. He said "I just got into a bit and then all of a sudden it started smoking and clanking like a spun bearing"
That sucks for him. I'm glad we don't have those serious issues like that with out trucks.

yeah no problems like that... just injector issues, and overheating issues and a tranny that cant handle schit for power and likes to limp all the time... no no problems at all.....

if you wanna go apples for apples, a stock alli with stock power is a deadly transmission, with potential for a long life with no limping or anything. A stock 6.0 on the other hand.. need I say more? Im not trying to start an arguement Im just stating a fact.

a stock 5r110 will take much more abuse than an ally will.... and back to what I said... I have seen many stock 6.0's witout a problem... MOST not all but most problems with the 6.0 arise from tuning, which the studs and an EGR delete fix that very quickly... now is there a quick fix for the dmax overheating and injector issues? or just GM's 200k mile bandaid?
i say this not to argue... i say this because all vehicles have issues with something or another and you can usually fix that issue with proper upgrades... my post was to get the other guy to open his eyes and realize his truck isnt all high and mighty like he thinks... and maybe next time he wants to bash a vehicle, he will bash that POS Titan or the POS Tundra that have way more issues... i mean fawk the entire tundra engine was under recall for massive engine failures when they first released it... import trucks needs to get bashed, we need to support the american brands
you have Ford GM and Dodge all fighting to stay afloat... which BTW Ford, the one you guys hate the most is a better selling truck and they are the only ones who are in good shape... but anyway, you bash them they bash you and someone new to trucks sees all three being bashed and guess what? they go and buy an import truck... how about we all just concentrate on bashing import trucks and that person will stay with a domestic brand

I have spoken with many people on the infamous big 3 discussion. This info was from roughly 2006.
I spoke with a Cummins engineer about the 3 major contenders in the diesel market. He gave me some interesting facts on all 3. This one really stuck with me.
Out of 100 trucks, the claims for warranty work was Cummins around 10 claims, Duramax around 12, and the Powerstroke right around 20-24.
Then he stated that the Duramax numbers were quickly dropping to be at par with the Cummins.
Keep in mind this was 06. This was before the 6.7, and 6.4, and LMM.
