I didn't need a lift pump. I got one because I got a good deal on the Air Dog II DF-165 when it released. It is currently set to pump the same fuel that the stock system was pumping. It will be a good investment once I have nozzles and a bigger injection pump, and I can turn the lift pump up. My tranny is still stock and shifted like a dream on my 12.96 pass the other weekend with 66,000 miles on it. I didn't need an intake until I got above 475 horsepower (Spartan 210 can be used without an intake).
Just for kicks, a trap speed/horsepower calculation says that I am making 586 horsepower at rear tires. That is tire size, truck race weight, and trap speed calculated somehow.
So what did not make sense?? Sounds like you understood it quite well
We do not need an intake for over 500hp and to run in the 12's.
All you Ford guys rave about how you don't need a $300 fuel mod, but you need a $300 intake mod which we don't so that is a wash IMO.

The S&B cold air intake is $250. And I have never seen a lift pump for $300....
