I know there is a post for this but I'm going to post in both of them. I've been hadling it myself and its better than what they do at the dealership. Anyway here it is.....
It's a pain....... 1st take your seat belt and run it through your steering wheel. This helps stabilize the shaft and eliminates damage to your steering wheel componenets. Then I take out the bolt at the bottom (15mm, I think) where it ties into the shaft for the steering box. Then take the boot off at the fire wall. Now your down to the telescoping part that's giving the problem. With it extended all the way down take a "WOPPING" hand full of grease (THE THICKER THE BETTER). Push the telescoping part back up with the dry hand and you should feel it suck in the grease. The whole problem is that the "INTERMEDIATE" shaft gets dry from grease. I own a 2004 DMAX and A Suburban and have to do this on both vehicles, but it last longer than the STEALERSHIPS fix. Maybe twice a year depending on how much you drive.
We call em "Grease Worms" were I come from. Little devils get in and eat all the grease out of a joint or connection.

Its kinda funny this is how the factory TSB says to fix this noise. It costs money(i.e.- 2hrs labor at the dealer) to smear grease!!!HAHA. I was on GM Parts Online. The intermediate shaft is the number one selling part online....... $200 or $4? Good post Big Smith!
