Ok...I just got a new 2009 Chevy 2500HD Dmax last week. I've been looking into the Cognito Leveling kits, but don't want to spend the extra money on one right now.
So I just want to make sure that I am reading this thread right...the original post is implying that I don't need to spend the extra money on a leveling kit. I can just crank the (stock) torsion keys and then add either longer shocks or shock extensions and still be able to keep the same "factory" ride (and possibly make it even better), but doing this will also raise the front end to the same height as a leveling kit and make the truck level??
Yes this is true but depending on how high you are trying to get. It all depends on maintaining the "Green Zone" to maintain ride. Make sure before you start playing with the stance you fully understand what you need to watch for and you will be good to go.
i personaly never did longer shocks or had it realigned and never had any problems in 140,000miles but i would recommend for best ride quality to do the longer shocks and dont just replace the front 2 replace all 4 while your at it! the OEM shocks are quite pathetic anyway!

I was going to order new front keys and a 1.5" block in the back but I guess I should reevaluate this because this would but me in the green zone. correct?

Read over the other sticky next to this one and it has more info on what you need to look for.
ugh! I decided to replace the Bilsteins with Rancho shocks. The rears went right in, test ride... like em better!
The front is another story. They are too short! I can't believe it. They are just a hair shorter then stock, and will NOT fit with my torsion bar crank. How could Rancho be so short-sighted?!
So, FYI - if you decide to use Rancho shocks in combination with a torsion bar crank, you'll also need shock spacers just like OEM!
