I plan on getting a UCA leveling kit from cognito to be able to fit 33s. My question is can i install the kit with tools from around the house or do i have to bring it somewhere? Also should i get longer shocks or just the extensions?
If tools from around the house include a fairly well set up ool box then yes. You'll also need a torque wrench, pickle fork, sledge hammer (yes a sledge), and a grease gun (for greasing the bushings after its all installed) I wouldnt get shock extensions if your going all out just buy longer billstein 5100's and you'll be set.
I have a coulple of the tools you named but im sure what i dont have can be barrowed. I was just making sure i didnt need to hydraulic press anything in. Has anybody done this? How hard of a jobe is it?

I have it installed on my truck, I did it myself. Its not that hard of a job. The hardest part that I found was getting the new UCA's in. That was fixed by using the sledge to bang the metal flaps on the frame apart a few MM's. Make sure everything is torqued to spec and go back and retorque it after a day of driving or so. Lube your whole front end the same time. When your done take it for an allignment right away because if its anything like mine your wheels will be toe'd in big time. Another suggestion is to have a friend just for an extra pair of hands, made my life a lot easier. If you dont have access to a lift make sure you have a couple of jacks and at least 2 or more axle stands. The stock ball joints are kinda hard to separate even with a pickle fork and sledge, I founs you need to jack up he LCA to get the angle just right so it slides out easy.
305-70-16 33x12.50 same thing. whats i ran on mine when i first got it
305/70-16 is not the same as a 33x12.50. It is the same height of the 285/75-16 just wider.
As far as the original question...It is fairly easy install with common tools. the only thing i needed was to use a pickle fork on one side. I did try to just hit it with a sledge to disassemble, but i needed the pickle fork. The frame mount tabs were pretty tough to get the UCAs in. I fought with them for awhile. I was a tired puppy after doing mine though...i did more than just the UCAs at the time.....I did shocks, lower balljoints, and HD tierods at the same time.

OB, i kinda want to put a little lift in the rear too. did you go with longer shocks in the rear or stay with stock height? and for the front i need a 2" longer shock?

I run 33x12.5s with cognito UCAs and couldn't be happier with the ride. fairly basic on the in stall. i did mine by myself in a few hrs. ob_1jr and zack just about summed it up. i found using a metal putty knife wedged inbetween the frame mount and new UCA was a big help to get Them started.

get 10 ply, for the money you are already spending it would be silly not to go with 10 ply. duratracs are a good tire, my buddy just put them on his 7.3, they hook well in the sand!
