If the owner put to small chocks on they could be bottoming out causing a bad ride.

wow, thanks for the reply guys got me lots to think about. i talked to the owner. he put on aftermarket torshion keys to level the ride. iv noticed that they are not all loaded they have lots of threads left on the bolts that push up on the keys. the shocks have a 1/2 inch spacer on each one of the front ones, just below where they thread to the frame, (i hope u know what i mean or ill take a pic.) he said it is to make it longer. iv heard that u can do that to the stock shocks to get a better ride. i dont know how mush of the silver is showing ill check but there is a dust boot there. tires are 285/75r16 psi 55 all the way around. with bf goodrich. i get most of hard rde in the front. feels like i hit a bumb or a dip and the front end just keeps bouncing, its even hard to keep the gas pedal steady during that. i mostly have the psi on the bags at 3. hopes this helps, later

Wow I thought you ment it rides like a brick. Thats strange for it to keep bouncing and usually means a leaking shock. Your shocks could of went bad and or all the fluod came out. Even if you adjust the ranchos it might not make a difference. Have you tried putting the shocks on the highest and lowest number to see whatthe difference was?

When I first put my aftermarket keys in I did not install the shock extension brackets to see what the ride would be like and what you are describing is almost exactly what my truck was doing. I installed the extensions and most of the bounce went away. There is still some but that comes from the extra preload on the torsion bars. Hope this helps.

Rancho shocks are for lifted trucks from 80's there is a reason most all high performance cars and trucks for that matter come from the factory with Bilstein shocks THEY ARE THE BEST. It is the signal biggest improvement you can make to any car or truck. Just go to there website and get the right shock for you. Some truck apps have a HD and soft options just pick which one you want. Also if you have a leveling kit you should check out cogneto motorsports they have a extended length shock made just for them by Bilstein for your app. Nor Cal Nick can give you more info on them.

TRUST ME, SET all of them to 5 or the softest position

front and back.

2nd, what LOAD range tires do you have?

Load range C has a smoother ride than D and E

You guys do know that Rancho shocks are generic valved. They don't do any testing to make sure you as a end user is getting the best valving for your application. I have been around trucks for years and they don't have any valving spec's to offer so something to think about when spending the money.

Those spacers on the top of the shocks are causing the bad ride because since the shock isnt made for a level kit usualy 2 inches the cheap way to cure this is to add those extension but when ever you hit a but the arms will just sort of dangle and bottom out thus causing problems with the ball joints later on recommendations are check the level kit then go for some bilstein 5100 shocks for trucks with 0-2 inches of lift it MAKES A HUUUGE difference and i know this because my truck had the same thing bought all 4 bisteins on ebay for 270 and took me bout an hour and a half to install em my local shop wanted 400 for everything! saved myself close to 200 bux
