steering shaft and bearing

I have had a vibration in my steering for some time and saw a thread once about it. Took it to my dealer today and they replaced the steering shaft and bearing. The truck has 42,000 miles. The extended warranty paid for it and got it done in half a day. Rides nice and tight now.

Huh interesting to know.. Thanks for telling us! when did you notice the vibration? All the time? around turns? over 50? Did the steering wheel have play if you wiggled it? Hmmm I would of thought it was a tire balancing issue!

The vibration or "thumping?" was at low speeds and especially while turning. It was noticable since I bought it in April, I put 13,000 miles since then and it has got worse. It was in the steering column and didn't feel like it was a tire or frontend issue. Someone in this forum has talked about the issue before, just can't remember where.
