5th wheel towing with a body lift

Truck already had 3" body lift when I purchased it.
Currently we have a bumper pull TT about 6,000lbs
Looking to upgrade to a large tow hauler in the range of 15,000lbs.
Will there be any issues due to the body lift?
If so, then I guess I should upgrade to a proper "frame" lift...not really sure of the technical term for that.
Are there any add'l issues related to towing with a 4 inch "frame" lift?
Thanks in advance for your help.

If I switched to a more "proper" lift would I be OK?

I would think so, there are several people here towing 5th wheels with suspension lifts, but don't hold me to it.

The question is what was cut or removed when the kit was installed. If you are set on a 5th wheel then I would remove the body lift. If you are just doing a travel trailer and have a receiver hitch (not on the bumper) then you will be fine.

Been there done it with my 1500 that I put a body lift on.

Thanks..
As I am not sure exactly what type of lift is on the truck
I'm going to run her up to 4 Wheel Parts and see what is on it and what they
suggest. I already have 35" tires and am dead set on a big 5er tow hauler so I better do my homework.

Yeah, homework is a good idea. I'm sure you've already verified that GVWR and GCWR have not been compromised too much by the lift kit.

Well, probably you haven't.

Anyway, all that legal stuff aside, will your 5er clear the bed rails with such an extreme lift? You might have to flip the axles on the toy hauler to raise it to match the truck. Handling will be compromised of course but just drive slower.

Good luck,
Joe

PS: my toy hauler is a Voltage 3950 42'6" 19000 lbs. Only 2011 Chev can haul it (legally)

Its probably a Performance Accessories. I think they are like the most common around.

I have a 4" suspension lift on my truck and 44ft fifth wheel that weighs 17k it hauls it just fine. Just have to watch inclines so the bumper on the camper doesn't rub. So as long as you anchor the hitch to the frame good you should have no problems
