Help! Just swapped OEM non-towing mirrors for OEM Towing mirros

Hey guys,

So I just swapped out my OEM mirrors P/N: 15124827 & 15124828 (Power adjusting/folding, heated, w/ signals) for OEM towing mirrors 15904034 & 15904035 (Power adjusting, heated, w/ signals) on my 2500 LT and I've run into a bit of a snag.

The seat heaters and memory function no longer function and the mirrors reposition themselves whenever the key is cycled on. I did notice that there were a lot fewer wires in the black and blue plugs (Mirror side) than the mirrors that came off the truck. I assumed it was because they weren't power folding.

I'm not 100% sure but I believe that GM offers multiple part #'s of the same style mirrors, do you think it's possible that the parts counter guy could have mixed them up and given me the ones for a different trim level truck (Mine is a LT)? Am I missing something here, maybe different door switches or something along those lines?

I have a race that I'm towing to next Friday so if you have any insight please share! I've attached pictures of the mirrors for reference.

Thanks,

Colin

I had the same small mirrors you had and I put on the same tow mirrors you did, seat heater and everything works fine but the mirror glass resets to default position when I push one of the seat memory buttons. So I'm curious to

When I bought my 07.5 2500HD, I looked over the invoices that the original owner gave me. Seems my truck didn't come with the Tow mirrors so he had the dealer do the swap. Not only did they replace the mirrors, they replaced the door switches. It also wasn't a cheap job... Not sure if the switches need to be replaced on the "Classic" model as mine is the newer body style, but I can only guess, that could be your problem.. Everything works correctly on my truck.. Hope this helps

I second this. When you purchase the mirrors from the stealership they come with a new set of buttons for the drivers side, and it eliminates the fold in option button.

I had to have the computer reprogrammed at a dealer after I switched-out the original folding mirrors for the electric telescoping tow mirrors on a 2003 2500HD. Fortunately, I have a friend that managed a Chevy dealer service department at the time and he flashed the computer for free.

I agree with the above comments - I had the dealer do the same swap as you discuss on my previous '08 1/2 ton when the original mirror broke and I know I got a new control panel in the door and I remember there was a charge to have some re-programming done after installation.

So I do have the correct mirrors then? And I'll need the door switches (Both sides or just the drivers side?) and have the BCM reflashed?

Anyone know an engineer that works for GM? I'd like to give them an ear full...
