| Gooseneck Vs 5th Wheel Any body give me a reason why you would utilize a 5th wheel now days in a pickup instead of a gooseneck setup? Gooseneck keeps your box useful when your not towing where the 5th wheel is huge and in the way.

| For most campers, the 5th wheel plate supports more of the weight (or more specifically how the load shifts and is absorbed by the hitch). I have a gooseneck myself that came with the truck and haven't had a chance to use it yet, but it's definitely a little less intrusive than most 5th wheels I've seen. |

| i have 5th wheel rails, my curt goosneck spyder plate takes a verticle load of 6600lbs and a 26500 trailer weight,, and you can get upto 20000lb 5 th wheel plates.. but holy expensive and my gooseneck plate still takes more weight..

| 5th wheel is eaiser hook up and rides better, hence more of the RV's use it, but GN are used on heavy trailers, simpler and supports more weight but is also rougher. B&W turnover ball gives you both worlds if you want to have both and still have a usable bed.

| Gooseneck allows side to side articulation which is great for loads that go offroad often ie loads of hay fifth wheel provides rigid lateral connection for top heavy/wind susceptible loads ie travel trailers and parasitically uses some if the lateral stability of the truck itself.

| Can not go wrong with the B&W setup, no comparisons. Pricey but worth it.

| I have used Reese in the past for 5th wheel hitches. Have the B&W now and I love it. The B&W is built better, simple to hook up your trailer and offers a better truck/trailer ride. The B&W was less expensive then the new Reese Elite Series hitch. After you add the up everything you need to equal what you get with the B&W; you are paying a lot more for the Reese.
