New Duramax Performance.

Looking to buy a new truck sometime soon. Want some feedback on the new 2011 and newer model lml duramax performance for towing and anything else you may have utilized it for. Critique everything you have noticed. Power, suspension, ride quality, braking capacity, grade braking feature with tow haul, engine brake, anything i want details on everything. Thanks all who contribute input.

Buy it fuel it, break it in, and then hook and book!! It will pull like a dream. I have had quite a few loads behind mine and it has not let me down. Load it up hit the big road hit 70 mph set cruise and forget it. Engine brake works best in tow haul, had trailer and one ton dodge on it and no trailer brakes and had no problem stopping. Mileage empty 10 mile commute, 3 miles of stop and go is around 16, highway 70 to 75 is 18.5 to 19.

Towing monster, great on the open road. But I have mostly all stop and go and slow speeds back roads which kills the MPG. I personally average 11 - 12, but on a 500 mile trip on the interstate, get 22 - 24 empty/light, 18ish heavier.

Any mods to the vehicle at all that affect your fuel economy?

You'll notice that the loads are much easier to haul with the Diesel as compared to a gas engine. The LML gets decent mileage considering all the emissions crap on it.

Simple Mods you can do to a LML:

1)H&S Mini or Black Maxx programmer

2) a DPF delete would increase MPG and cool down the exhaust

DPF delete is the removal of the Urea System correct? Or not so much?

Go for the dually. We had a 2011 2500 with a 6.0 gas. We just last month traded for the 2012 3500 dually. There is no comparison. The dually with a Duramax is head and shoulders above the single wheel truck as far as towing and fuel mileage. If you tow a lot go for the dually.
