No towing package on my new 2012 duramax

Yes I know its stupid to have a 2500 truck with no towing package.....thats what I told the salesman too but it's the only 2012 I could find so I could get 0% financing.

Can anybody tell me what all is included in the towing package besides the receiver hitch?

Get a good hitch if you're planning on towing a lot, this one seems pretty good for your truck, although not the best towing capacity, it has a 2 inch receiver tube instead of the bigger 2 and 1/2.

Found that one on ebay. Is that a good price for it? Do you know how much of it will be seen or does it tuck up pretty good? Anybody have pics?

On my window sticker the HD trailer package lists the following: Locking rear differential and Integrated trailer brake controller. You should check to see if the Z85 trailer package was included - I am guessing that is the primary towing package but it is listed as a standard feature, not an option. Nothing on the window sticker specifically lists the towing hitch. You might have a lower GVW as well - mine is listed as 10,000# and there was no charge for this higher rating.

A back up camera is a nice accessory. Makes it easy to back up to the trailer right the first time.

They do it to save money. The dealers here in town bring us brand new vehicles all the time, to have us put aftermarket hitches and wiring on. Also, the dealers are a big disfunctional family, the sales, parts and service departments hate each other and might as well be seperate businesses. Most sales departments would rather hang themselves rather than get ripped off by their own part's department. The same thing with things as simple as running board, bedliners, etc, unless they have their own aftermarket guy.
