mostly smaller equipment, tractors, skid-steers, truck/cars if need be, stuff like that. i guess my question would lean more on what weight i could have on the tongue on the truck and how heavy of a trail to go with. my father has a 20k lbs trailer that i used with a JD tractor and a t250 bobcat on it but i think i was right on the border or tongue weight or i was over. that trailer is a 32 footer, i dont think i need a trailer that long but I'm not so sure i wouldn't use it.

As you well know from hooking onto that 20k GN (you were overloaded), because of weight limitations with a 2500HD, you’re going to be limited in GN choices versus having a 3500DRW to pull with. Staying within the limits of your HD, with the small tonnage you’re proposing to haul, going with a tag trailer instead may be a better option and much cheaper too.
Generally, an empty GN will weigh more per foot of trailer than a comparable tag trailer will, thus reducing your trailer’s hauling capacity in relation to axle limits. Your best bet would be a 20’ open car-hauler style tag trailer with tandem 8-lug 7k brake axles. This will give you 10k lbs of hauling capacity and 1250 lbs of tongue weight, which is within the limits of a stock 2500HD D-Max, and plenty of trailer to haul the items mentioned.

i have pulled 20,000 many times with the 3/4 ton with air bags and she does just fine. as for GN trailers. most are 16-20k in the size youll probably want. dual wheel trailers over singles are also nice. the trialer dad and i have is a 20k, tri axle with dual. its 18 on the flat with a 6 foot trails and then the neck. here is a pic with the burnt up tractor from your hay barn fire this last summer

I have a 25ft 20k gooseneck. I like it for hauling hay and big awkward stuff. I mainly need it for the size as I dont haul really heavy stuff. I would love to have a 20-24 ft 14k goose lowboy with a tilt deck. They are awesome for loading vehicles, skid steers and small equip.

i have been searching around looking for some info on a gooseneck trailer. i am looking at picking one up and am thinking about a 25 foot gooseneck. My question is i currently have a 16 foot bump hook flat bed and when i load a car it hits due to the load angle of the ramps to the deck. is the angle of the beavertail on a gooseneck going to cause this problem as well. I need to know what to expect.
