Never owned a diesel before, but in the short time frame of one week I own a 2007 crew SB Duramax and a 29' 5th wheel(11500 gvw, 9000 empty,1800 tongue). Looking at a Pullrite 18k hitch. Know the hitch will do the job, but is it worth the extra cost? Asking for opinions. Stepped out a long way money wise already. Thinking about the future, bigger trailer or pulling behind trailer. Have lots to learn and have read lots here already. Thanks
In my iopinion it is worth the extra cost. I have a 24 k pullrite and my friends who have other hitches such as the husky and reese agree that my hitch pulls way better than theirs.

I had one. great hitch, but it will fail if you dont lube it correctly. Another downside is the weight, i had the 24k and it was heavy, like 230 pounds.

I have only rode in one truck that had a Pullrite and it was pretty smooth riding combo, but have driven one with a Fifth Airborne pin box/Curt hitch and it was even smother. My vote would be the Fifth Airborne for the ultimate in ride comfort. I have a Curt E5 and and extended pin box and can go almost 90deg if need be. Also I can hook up at any angle (can the Pullrite do that).

Just curious but why would you want to hook up at a wierd angle any way.

I guess under certain times you might want to. Can't unhook either, unless you lift hitch off truck. Then take it off the king pin(pita). I think it would be great to have an automatic slider. Would work around the rest of it.
I have never even needed a slider on my short bed (extended King Pin Box!! that is off camber and almost 90deg. Shoot any more of an angle and you risk ripping the tires of the rims anyways!! And yes there will not be alot of times you need to hook up at more than 15deg, but it only takes once. Where I hunt, I have to almost parallel park it almost between 2 trees, and yes you are more that 15deg off. The only other thing was it is only a dual pivot and not a 4way pivot, as that comes in handy when you trailer is not always level side to side.
