Trailer brakes

I was wondering if anybody knows how to set the trailer brakes up so they come on sooner. I have mine set @ 10 and I really have to mash on my truck brakes before they even come on. My truck is a 2009 with the intergrated trailer brakes. Thanks

Like mentioned above, how old is you trailer? You may need to get new brakes on the trailer or check your magnets in the brakes. Mine is set at 4 and even then I have to be careful sometimes or I will end up in the windshield.

I would also vote for a check of your trailer brakes/electrical.

I tow a three horse bumper pull. Loaded up – mine locks the brakes hard at around 5-6. 3-4 seems to be about right if I recall.

You can get a tester for the truck side from ETRAILER that will show if your 7 pin is working. You should see the brake circuit LED pulse.

I have used the AUX harness for a camper but not with a goose neck. Not sure if the trailer brake circuit is in that harness or not.

Yeah, I have the IBC and with my 5er I have the gain set at 3.5 and it drags the truck down real nice and smooth.

Thanks guys. When I use squeeze the slider the brakes come on like crazy so it's not the trailer. Maybe it's not in that plug in the box I will try the one in the bumper. Thanks again

my oem bed plug works with all my trailer breaks on my three diffrent trailers. however i have to run my gain higher on the factoy brake controler then i do on aftermarket ones iv used in the past. but it works good for me. maybe check the gain with a volt meter maybe your lossing power somewhere along the wires?
