Question 2007 LBZ Dually-Code P0401-Exh. Gas Rec.

Hey Guys, I'm new at this...so bare with me as I learn. I have a 2007 1 ton Dually that has 18,000 miles. Everytime I hook to the fifth wheel, I get the P0401 code. When I first got the warning light (check engine) I pulled into GM. they looked at it and told me the EGR timing was off and they reset and cleared the light. I made it about a 100 miles, and guess what... here it is again... To make a long story shorter, this continues to be an issue. I bought a Diablosport Predator and installed 4" exhaust. None of this helped the situation. Of course, All GM will do is keep resetting the Code. I just found this web site yesterday, and was wondering if the EGR Plate, might help my situation. I have worked with gas engines all my life... so this is new adventure for me. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Is your exhasut turbo back or cat back? If it is turbo back you will need a "finger stick" to get rid of the code. The egr plat won't fix your problem but is always something good to put on, it will keep all of the soot out of your engine.

The fingerstick is a computer chip that you wire into you maf sensor to fool the egr into thinking there is enough flow.

Thanks! I'll get online and see if I can locate one. I'm in West Texas, small towns, so I have to order everything!

if the vehicle is still under warranty take the vehicle in to your gm dealer and ask them if the reprogram for the pcm applies to your vehicle gm had a prob with the egr system being to sensitive and the program will most of the time fix the issue.

With the 5" turbo back exhaust and cai, i don't think the reprogramming is going to fix the code for him. If it is the P0403 then it will fix it, but not the 0401 and 0404.
