Gooseneck vs. Bumper Pull

Looking to tow a 25' trailer with 2 Jeeps on it and a toolbox of supplies (about 10,000 lbs total).

In your opinion, is it best to go with a gooseneck/5th wheel or can I go with an open deck bumper pull type trailer?

(Workhorse is an '02 Chevy diesel 2500 shortbed)

TIA

once you pull a heavy load with a gooseneck, you will notdo it anyother way! i prefer my gooseneck over my bumperpull. But only when I do pull heavy.

I agree, i like gooseneck better and it gives you more control over the trailer, on bumper pull it can get to swaying it not loaded properly. my 2 cents

Sounds like gooseneck style trailer is the way to go...

What is the best way to run the trailer with a shortbed truck and that type load?

Use the ball in the bed like this

or go this way

I must concur, goose neck is the only way to go. I had a fifth wheel that i put an adapter on to haul like a goose neck. unfortunately when i upgraded to a toy hauler I didnt want to spend the $$ for a fifth wheel toyhauler so i went back to the bumper pull. I did have a chance to haul hay with = size trailers both bumper and goose neck. The GN hauled much better than the bumper with = loads.
Hope this helps, Ranger

I use the ball in bed style and when you are finished you flip the ball over and still have your bed for other things and you don't have to move that big hitch in and out everytime. The style on the bottom picture is for a fifth wheel trailer like and rv not a goose neck style trailer. I am sure you can get a flat bed trailer with a fifth wheel hitch but it wil cost much more for the hitch. I got my ball style hitch at a farm supply for about 65 bucks and you can buy an adapter to go on an rv style fifth wheel and haul them too.

The Goose is "THE" only way to go. Better MPG's, less stress, no fish tails, etc.... you will be happy you got a goose.
