Where to mount my brake controller

Does anyone have a good idea on where to mount an aftermarket brake controller on an 08 Silverado Crew Cab? I hate drilling holes in the panels. Thanks.

I have seen many people mount them on the side of the console or under the dash, both which interfere with your leg when driving. I mounted mine on the shelf next to the ashtray in front of the accesory power, it makes using them a little difficult but I have my sirius plugged in there and never take it out. You can not close the door on the ac plug ins though it stays open above the controller. It is out of the way of your leg and you wont bury it into your knee if you should happen to have an accident. It is very user friendly and very easy to see and reach. I know, I am feeling your pain, I do not like drilling holes either but this was a necessary evil. Hope this helps, I am not sure of what the 08 interior looks like but mine is an 02 Silverado they may have similair interiors.

I did mine under the steering on the metal at the bottom of the dash. The holes line up perfect so no drilling at all.

2006 and Tekonsha Prodigy

I put mine in the cubby of the overhead console with the map lights. Had to extend the wires and be VERY CAREFUL running them up the pillar and inside the headliner. Used the pocket mount that came with the Prodigy. I think it came out great. Out of the way and easy to use.

I am sure the interior of my 02' is totally outclassed by yours, but I had a solution I thought was reasonable. Mine has a panel just below the power outlets. It's about 10x10. I mounted the controller and trimmed the panel around it. Looking at the controller, only about half of it sticks out, almost looks like it was factory installed, well not really, but good just the same, if I do say so myself. This puts it out of the way to avoid knocking the driver's knees, and is still far enough away from the seat to allow a passenger in the center seat and still allow manual operation of the control. If I decide to trade or sell this truck and keep this control, I can easily replace this panel and noone is the wiser.

Good idea. Unfortunately, there is no room for a controller beneath the power outlets on the new style interiors. There is only about 1/2". But I did run the controller lines there for testing out the new controller. They are just sticking out right now. I was thinking of mounting the controller on a small stand and putting it in the tray between the center console and the dash, but then I have to look at the wires sticking out when it is not plugged in. Still deciding what to do, but thanks for the advice.

Depending on the controller, I like to put them in the ash tray hole. I remove the ash tray door and install right there, looks almost factory.
