towing with 8" lift

I have lifted my truck and built up the tranny axle, etc. I wanted a monster hot rod. However, I don't want to lose the capability to tow when needed. I have toys and haul a 30' boat at least once or twice a month. I would say I tow about 7500lbs. However I may upgrade to a 12000lb boat. Will my truck be fine?

I honestly wouldnt think you should have too much trouble. Obviously you wouldnt want to rod the piss out of it, but the same would be said if you didnt have a lift in it. One of the main places you can lose drivetrain strength on a lifted truck is the u-joints. If your pinion angle is too extreme the u-joints are stressed quite a bit more than they would be if you were at stock ride height.

towing with a lifted truck has lots of varibles and the reason i say that with a taller lift you run into what 01Dmax said, next question the suspension you have does it handle weight like the stock one and i see you have airbags so that helps.also will you be towing a bumper pull trailer or a gooseneck i'm guessing bumper pull since with the lift it would be next to impossilbe to use a gooseneck.

Ya I'd say the drive train and everything would be ok. It just might get alot of sway. As TYREBOYZ_DEMAXIN your truck wont hold weight anymore like a regular truck! You might want to look into getting a weight distribution hitch. That could help with leveling out the weight.

Thanks guys. Would a 6" lift be any better than the eight? Or would you say that expense would be overboard?
