transmission woes

I have a 2001 Duramax with 230K miles on her. I purchased her with 220K and she runs great. I had to replace the injection pump, but other than that, she has been a solid truck. My only Mod's are a Stealth 2 programer I usually run in the economy mode or 50hp.

Today, I was driving home from work and I thought my truck was slipping in the 1-2 shift with mild acceleration...normal driving. Once I got off the freeway and came to a stop, the truck downshifted really hard at say, 5mph or slower. I was not sure if it was a fluke or what? So I tried to slow down to a stop again. It did it again... Now, when I come to a stop, it slammes into what feels like a granny gear. What gives?

For now, I plan on checking the tranny oil and recalibrate my Stealth 2 programmer for my stock settings, then put the tranny in learn mode...maybe this will help?

ANY HELP would be greatly appricated.

OK, my transmission oil is full and is clean. I re-set the tune back to the economy mode and calibrated my transmission to my 33 inch tires and stock 3.73 rear end gears. I took her out for a drive & she's driving with out any issues. I can't reproduce the slamming into gear at low low speeds while comming to a stop. I know the tranny takes about 75 miles to "relearn" so I'll have to wait and see.

Anyother thoughts, help or advsie?

What Allison transmission do the 2001 2500 LB7 duramax have? I"m considering either rebuilding mine &/or finding one in the junk yard and then rebuilding it. Where can we get a rebuild kit for our transmissions?

hm surprised it didnt throw codes, it has the allison 1000 and if you are looking to get it rebuilt to handle more power get in contact with mike l.

I"m considering looking for a spare tranny in a bone yard, then rebuilding it myself. Do you have any idea of what could be going on with the transmission? I"m supprised it did not throw any codes. It only did it 4 times. I did it once, then I reproduced it three times on my way home. From there, I checked the oil and re-calibrated the tranny via my stealth 2 programer and set my tune to economy mode.

Also, what will it cost to have someone rebuild my tranny?

ya not a bad idea, i would talk to mike for a kit to use on the build. not sure what would cause that. when did you last change the spin on??

I had the transmission serviced @ a dealer when I purchase it 8K miles ago. I don't think they changed the spin on filter, but flusehd the old fluid and replaced it with new fluid.

Where can I get a spin on and what is the part number?

Try cleaning and greasing the slip yoke on drive shaft. Drop drive shaft lube spline and yoke might help.
