| ally just got interesting so backing out of the gf's driveway today and i put it in park and i had no gears. then i hit the break and she slammed into gear and was in limp mode. threw a code i believe something like tcm173. help please!

| Does the shift display work--?? Most common problem for most 5 speed trans, is the NSBU switch. They get water and short out. Of course the correct code [TCM 173--???] will help diagnose the problem.

| im aware of the nsbu. all my autocal said was tcm173..... if it happens again i will change the nsbu again...bummer

| Mine did a similar thing yesterday morning, started the truck, let it warm up for 10 min, put it in reverse and had barely any power, put it in drive and had barely any power, my CTS said I was in 5th gear, truck would not shift and I had the PO700 generic code which would not clear. Pulled the battery cables and it started to act just fine, CEL was still on. Went to start it up this morning and the CEL is off, no codes and everything seems fine. I have a feeling it had to do with the cold weather and parking on a hill, maybe it caused a solenoid to be a little sluggish and freaked out.
