Internal Filter Change Question

When should this be changed? I have 73,000 and have only done the spin on.
Thanks

Do you have burnt or brown tranny fluid? They say you don't have to replace it till rebuild time. My truck had burnt and brownish fluid at 93k. I elected by words of my trusted tranny guy to go ahead and change both filters and hoot's flush the system and the fluid is nice red color now and no problems.

Welcome to the Neighborhood!!!

It depends a lot on the life that the truck has lived, but I would say do it by at least 100K, and if you are considering changing the flui9d yourself you may want to refer to the link below. There you will find detailed instructions on how to flush your tranny yourself. Regardless of the fluid you use..

Thinking Of Changing Your Tranny Fluid Yourself???

God Bless!!!

Was very impressed how easy it is to do the hoots flush also had the instructions for the one from amsoil right there when i was doing it comparing with the hoots. Only trouble i had was getting the line off the tranny and that wasn't to big of a deal. Can't say it saves any money but i do know the way it was done and that means alot.

The internal filter is just a debris trap. I would only ever change it at rebuild time. If you have done the spin on a regular basis you are doinhg exactly what you are suppose to do.

Main reason for changing mine was my fluid was nasty, was doing a flush, spin on and pan cleanout so while i am in there why not eliminate just that little bit of gunk in the old filter. HUmmmm makes sence to me to get it out as well.
