Help with NSBU replacement, please!

Hi, all I'm a newby here and reaching out for some assistance. I've got an '02 Duramax owned since new, that seems to have the symptums of a defective NSBU switch as discussed in this forum. I've removed the orginal black one with some difficulty with the larger plug, and am ready to install the new one.

Question 1
The new Dual Plug Tan NSBU looks like it has a keeper key that should be removed upon install, so I'm wondering should I shift the trans until it matches the locked location or ?

Question 2
It appears that there is some play in the lock-down bolts for fine tuning, is there a procedure to follow with this?

Question 3
The new NSBU has what looks like a vacuum hose connection between the plugs, does it have a purpose?

Thanks,
kamalot

Well, the local GM Dealer price was $204, so went to an Allison Dealer and it was $67. Can you say, mark-up?

Okay, couldn't wait for an answer to my questions so after calling and talking with one of the Mechanics at my local Allison dealer I found out:

1. You should put the trans in Nuetral, and the trans case actually has marks on it where the shift shaft should line up with!

2. Keep the locking device on the NSBU switch until you've got it started on the shift shaft.

3. The nipple on the NSBU between the connectors has a one wave valve, so if water gets in from somewhere it should drain out the nipple!

Mine is working fine now!!!
