Trans fluid?

I have an 06 LBZ and it's time for the tranny service. I can't get a straight answer from GM on my fluid type. I want to do the deep pan conversion and do the TransSynd fluid. Will I be ok doing this if I don't have TransSynd in it now? Any other recomendations? Thanks

Yes, you can change it to TranSynd without hurting anything.

Do I have Dextron VI in there now? Will I benefit from the TranSynd? I pull a 40' toyhauler and want my tranny to last. Thanks for the help.

I've been using Amsoil Torque drive....I pull heavy loads of stone, dirt, and construction materials. I've been very pleased with it's performance.

I just ordered my fluid from the Dmax store. I got the 3 gallons of fluid, deep pan and filter, the external spin on and a fuel filter for $290 shipped. I called and left a message for them and Mike called back within 10 minutes and gave me all the advice I needed. They are A++ in my book. Thanks for all the help.

So I know I am a newer member but I see that this is somewhat of a heated discussion about what fluid to use in the transmission. I was about to change mine today and held off so I could get more information. I would like to hear more from HondaRider552, because he is very set in the Dextron VI, which is what GM recommends (and it is a synthetic), but why are you so devoted to dextron, as apposed to transynd, or any other fluid?

ALSO: I went hunting for more information, this is directly from Allison, they reccomend any DextronIII or better fliud, but are VERY BIG on the transynd:

Q. Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) - Can I use synthetic fluid?
A. Any fluid that meets DEXRON III requirements is suitable for use in the Allison 1000 Series™. Always verify that the container reads DEXRON III, regardless of whether it is mineral-based or synthetic.

Q. Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) - Can I use TranSynd fluid?
A. TranSynd is a fully synthetic transmission fluid available from Allison Distributors/Dealers or at GM dealers. TranSynd is a licensed DEXRON III product and has been extensively tested by Allison Engineering in a broad range of Allison products. While TranSynd was developed mainly to meet the harsh operating conditions of heavy-duty transmissions in severe operating conditions like transit buses, its benefits translate to the pickup truck market.

Q. Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) - What type of Transmission fluid can I use?
A. Transmission fluids licensed by General Motors to use the trademark DEXRON III are required in the Allison 1000 Series™ transmission.

I would recommend sending a PM to bigdaddydiesel, mrmanners, or chevy*tough and ask how Amsoil Torque drive can help you.

Amsoil torque drive meets or exceeds all manufactures specifications and is great stuff!!
