it may be the factory locker in the rear end if th noise is coming from there they have problems sometimes if they have been beat on

I would inspect your u joints, that may possibly be the problem. You might have to undo the drive shaft to get a good inspection of the ujoint.

the trannys do have some sort of a clunk from the factory not bad though you sure its just not the tranny going into gear??

if you dont know when the last service was i would go ahead and do the oil tranny fluid and both spin ons

Im going to check that out when I leave work and get it in the garage. I want to inspect the leaf bushings too. You guys are a huge help, any other ideas?? (besides selling the truck)

I have a 2003 silverado diesel with a allison suncoast trans. When I have to brake hard without giving the tranny time to downshift I get a hard bang, almost feels like I'm being rear ended!! Had everything checked and re flashed, Still having problem, any sugestions?

The whole suspension was checked, I was told if it's the suspension it would prob. happen all of the time. My problem is intermittent

I think its the infamous gm slip yoke clunk. The fix: nickel plated slip yoke. If that doesn't work... anyone wanna buy an LB7 dually??? just kidding haha
