changing to synthetic

Ok guys I have been trying to get as much info as I can, and still being told from unbiased sources that in my case truck having 100 thousand miles that I shouldn't change my transmission oil to synthetic because there's a good chance it will just lead to having leaks..... In your guys experience, is this true? I have to do a tranny flush with in the next two weeks and wanna do it right! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

yup i would call that a myth!!...As for the Amsoil TD it would be well worth putting in your tranny no matter what the mileage. my truck has over 144,000 and when i get the some cash i will be switching out the tranny fluid as i think it is time to do!
If i can be of any assistance let me know

Amsoil would be a good choice.... No, that is an old wive's tale- at least with this newer equipt. and seals. Get a hold of BDD, Mr. Manners, or Chevy tough.... they will hook you up!!

another question, I have been reading about doing tranny flushes. Should I be doing it if allison says dont do it? The fluids getting pretty broken down telling from the color on the dipstick. Thanks again

When your drain all the old stuff out the Amsoil will push the old stuff out when you change your spin on filter and all. You'll be fine with just draining the pan no need too worry about the other fluid.

you need to find some new unbiased opinions. that is an mythical legend from the very first days of synthetic motor oil use, about 25 years ago, when it could cause leaks in motors that had used low-detergent or non-detergent oils all their lives. there is no relativity.

i had 172,000 on my tranny when I switched to amsoil TD, and have had no leaks, and no problems.

Last year when I bought my dually it had 116K on the clock and I did a full flush with Torque Drive and have had zero issues. In fact I am very satisfied with my results! I agree with the above, that is a Myth about not flushing at that mileage.
