I have an 07 LBZ with an AFE Stage 2, 4" MBRP, and a PPE set on 160. Do I need to do a tranny upgrade cause someone told me the other day that I should start thinking about it. If so I am not looking a droping $$$$ into a tranny cause I havn't even had the truck a year yet. I am just looking for something that will not let me down, hold up, and won't break the bank. Any suggestion would be helpful.
Thanks,
Derek

Turn the PPE down if you like your wallet, anywhere over 100 on stock Allison might work, but will not last..

x2 on the turn it down. If you want to run big power you will need a tranny upgrade. The PPE is rated at the crank so you should be able to run level 3 without a prob.

Yup I agree. You should go down to the level 2 (90HP) so your tranny wont go into limo mode. The smallest and cheapest upgrade you can do is get a transgo jr. That kit increases line pressure to get firmer shifts and the truck wont slip the clutches as easy. You can probably get the kit installed for about $300.00

before you spend on the JR kit save up and do a tranny kit and the reason i say that a JR kit is a excellent idea it's just your torque conveter is your next weak link and that will need to be upgraded also..do the TTS tranny kit $370 and TCS converter for $1300(TCS builds all of the Sun Coast converters)and that is good for roughly 600-700RWHP.thats what i did for my LBZ and i love the setup, shifts like stock but it holds the power and i'm running the PPE HOT ET+2 on level 7(425HP).

it will ok on a stock trans but the problem you will have will be limping 5 th gear and burnouts will hurt it . i had mine set on 300 and it was good till i took it out and put a aftermarket trans it has 38000 miles on it
the 6SP ally will last quite a while with the 300-350HP tunes but if you tear one apart after it's had those tunes run you will see the damage so evem if it doesn't feel like the tranny is slipping or damaging it is doing just that, when my i had my tranny work done i got to see first hand what a PPE does to a stock tranny.the first 3 and 4 levels of the PPE on the 6SP will last a very long time but aftet those levels your on your own.

Hi TYRE,
This setup is the closest thing I've seen to a full trans upgrade that is close to my budget. Thanks for the suggestions!
Where can I learn more about these parts?
Who sells these?
How many hours would a decent shop require to install the TTS kit and TCS converter?
Thanks
