I recently purchased a 2006 lly w/ 95,000 mi. tranny has never been flushed and fluid is in good shape, red no burnt smell.wondering if I should have it flushed or just drain it and replace the filter and if so what fluid should I use that is compatible with current fluid.
Just change it! I had my (last) truck flushed and had problems ever since and now I have a new truck. My brothers good friend works at Ford and said that it might make an existing problem worst and then again it might be just fine
Always remember that there is a possibility of you getting someone's trash when hooking your tranny up to a flush machine, better off doing it by hand..

IIRC allison does not recommend a flush of any kind. Just change the fluid.
X2. It could delaminate the clutches. If you want to do a complete exchange you can disconnect the trans. cooler return line and drain into a bucket. Just run the engine for 2-4 seconds, turn off and replace with new fluid. repeat until clean fluid comes out of the hose into the bucket. It will take about 5 gallons to do this.

X4 on not flushing the transmission. I just drained the pan and replaced the spin on filter when I brought home the used 2500HD in my sig.
Did we mention NOT to flush it???

I do not even change the fluid. I had a truck with 180,000 on the clock. I never changed the fluid. They guy that bough the truck changed the fluid the next day and the transh took a shit. All the clutch material in the fluid is good for it it keeps everything working you take the material out and it starts to slip.
I NEVER EVER CHANGE THE TRANS FLUID IN ANY VEHICLE I OWN AND I HAVE NEVER HAD A TRANS PROBLEM!!!!!!!
