truck shifts hard

Im looking at buying a 2003 Duramax with 174k
He says it has a diablo chip and a shift kit on it.
also has a straight exhaust.

But when i test drove it and got on the gas to the floor when it shifted gears it shifted kind of hard? is this normal for diesel trucks or cause it has the shift kit? or is it the transmission is bad?

ive talked to a few buddies that have duramax's and some say theres does it a little bit but there thinking the shift kit is what causes it.

mine has a shiftkit and doesn't shift hard?..maybe he romped on it hard alot so the allison learned that type of shift pattern from the driver, and you went to test drive it and it wasn't used to ur driving and got confused..they can do that since there learning trannys.it adjusts to every shift or so...if you end up buying it,do a tranny re-learn with the programmer, assuming it has that option and go through the gears 1/4 throttle 1/2,so on so forth a few times, check fluid levels,ect...

My truck
05 LLY CC/SB Slt
caltracs, efilive, lowered on chrome 20x12's and a stock tranny!

It better not. Hard shifts in an Allison are tie ups. That is being in two gears at the samd time. Allisons must not shift hard.

and how would i reprogram it when it doesnt have a programer?
it just has the diablo predator chip.
yea but when i was driving normal it didnt do the shifting like that, it just did it when i romped on it it was like a lag kinda and it threw the truck

The 6 speed TransGo Jr shift kit, will fit in the 5 speed, but does not do much. If installed it correctly, it won't hurt it either. Only way to help a 5 speed is internal modifications!
