I reset mine with the diablo tuner. Any time you do performance upgrades to the ecm it will go into relearn. When I put in my Transgo JR I had to relearn but I also turnd my diablo up to 120rwhp. I do not know if there is a way to make it relearn with out a programmer. The allison uses your driving habits to learn how to shift for how you drive.

You usually reset the tranny to allow it to adjust to a new power level produced by the engine. It usually takes the alli about 30 to 50 mi. to relearn the new power produced by the engine if it is reset. If you are able to reset the tranny it just allows it adjust faster than if you just re-adjust power levels and drive off. This could potentially be harder on the trans as it tries to adapt to the new power. It will basically change the line pressure and shift points and firmness to accomodate the new power. If you can reset it I would do it, otherwise just drive easy on it for the first 75-100mi. and it will adapt, also make sure the driving you do is varied i.e. lots of stop and go etc.

What are you wanting to reset it for? If you don't have a tuner your tranny shouldn't need to be reset.

I was reading about torque convertors getting locked up or something to that nature. They said to reset the tranny and that will fix the prob.(maybe)

When you put in T/haul,then it's locked up after 2nd gear. When you slow to a stop, the trans will feel as if it's dragging, until it shifts down outta second, then you'll almost feel the TC let the pressure off,try it out.The TC being locked ensures that trans does have excessive slippage,so I always use mine when I have it tuned up,loaded or not,I use the Tow/Haul....
