is the 06 lly tranny a 6 speed or a 5 speed? I know that the LBZ has a 6 speed tranny but i am uncertain if the 06 LLY has the 6 speed tranny. it seems like my LLY does because when i put it in manual shift, it shows 6 gears instead of 5. when it is in auto, it doesnt even feel like 6 gears to me.

it is a 6 speed the 5 speed trannys did not have the manual mode.

I honestly never thought of it but I think just the year 06 has a 6 speed. Doesnt matter what motor. But if your indicator says 6 in manual mode then im sure you have a 6 speed! Congrats!

If it shifts four times=5 speed.
if it shifts 5 times=6 speed
Umm,wonder which one I have??better check on that NOW!!!

well thats awesome that i got a 6 speed tranny, is it true they can handle abuse a little bit better than the 5 speed does? like putting 100 hp, although it is not recommended. will a shift kit handle 100 hp increase or should you keep it under 90 for a tuner?

the 5 speed didnt have the manual mode only the 6 speed. 6 speed will handel little more abuse than the 5 speed. you can put the transgo jr kit in it to help out the life for awhile depends on what you want to do with the truck the transgo jr kit is like 100.00 dollars

With the transgo Jr. kit you can run 100-120 HP safely.

if it shift 4 times its a 4 speed , 5speeds has 5 speeds . and 6 has 6,, 4 th gear 1to1 ratio 5 and 6 overdrives
