This may be a stupid question, but i have noticed that there arent a lot of trucks, without being highly modified that have a turbo gaurd, or blow off valve. I am new to diesels, but I have owned a few turbo'ed cars and have a blow off valve from one of them in my garage. Is there any reason I wouldn't be able to install it onto my truck? Has anyone done this? Not really necessary I guess, but I think it would probably sound kinda cool.

As long as it can flow enough volume for idle and release, i wouldn't think there would be a problem, I have seen it done before, and BD diesel makes a diesel specific one at BD Power - Product: Turbo Guard but i am no turbo expert.
typically, at low altitudes, anywhere from 20-25 psi, mine is at about 23, but i just ordered a PPE boost valve and should bump me towards 30, but i definitely can't just dump the throttle under load at that kinda boost without a boost valve.
cool. I know of people that were running the same BOV that I have at around 25psi and it worked. I dont know if I will actually install it though. The only video's or information I have found has all been limited to a few companies that make diesel specific BOV's. If anyone has heard of, or seen, a BOV that isnt diesel specific run let me know. I am intrested.

My concern is you have a stock truck stock tuning and stock turbo. WHy add a blow off valve. There is no throttle blade to close to provide the back pressure that would actuate the blow off valve like on a gasser. The only time you can bark a stock trucks turbo is if you a spinning the tires and let off
What if you are modding your truck? I just bought a Banks kit today with dual exhaust, bigger wastegate, air intake, new intercooler and piping, and the pda to control everything. If im adding more power to my truck does it make sense to put it on, i do love the sound of a bov too.
Well protecting your turbo is never stupid, although it is not easy to damage one by chopping the throttle on a duramax, however, they do sound amazing, and it is insurance.
ive seen it done but you dont really need itband there like 700 bucks
