Got the truck up there yesterday....cold there chatting in front of the shop. I'll have to say Scott is as nice a guy in person as he is here on the forum. Should be picking it up by Thursday with a load of stock parts in the bed.
Driving his truck made me miss my LB7, but mostly I now see what I've missed all these years.....boost! Water/meth and tons of fuel is fun, but it's clear there is nothing better than more air....soon I will have some of my own.
Pics and vids to follow.
Going for the first tow this weekend. I'll try and get some vids of some spooling with a load, but the little one, two teens, wife, plus a dog will be with me so there may be some background noise too.....
14/K loaded, should be a nice test for EGT's with power too.
Rain.....all we've had for DAYS! Is supposed to dry up tomorrow though. I'm gonna try what Rob recommended which I do believe is at about 520rwhp....wohooo! That level has so far been my favorite hiway tune also. I had thought about just hooking up for fun, but it has been so crappy out. Gawd I love this boost thing! Yours looks sweet by the way.
Nice. Congrats on the shop too. My next thing is a 40 x something for the RV and at least two of our rigs plus more storage. Truck parts have taken up garage money so far....
Thanks Motovet, its been a lot of sweat, time and money but its looking good and will be very functional and user friendly. We put in a 7.5 hp Ingressol Rand 175 psi @25 cfm last week. We left one opening for unregulated and the pressure was peeling the old paint off the floor with just a blower attachment! Floor paint will be close to last. Looking at glass beading cabinets and sand blaster this coming week.
Shot a few towing vids, though for some reason they are still coming out choppy. Towing performance is outstanding on the 500+ tune, and never saw over 1200*. I also got about 11mpg with the 15/K behind me, which is 2 mpg better than I got before. When I drive it sane I'm sure mpg's o up more.
This video was coming from a dead stop on a short uphill grade ramp where I easily reached hiway speed before merging. I set the MAF code on that run, will turn it off someday.
This one shows just how fast the added boost cools her down. Also how importabt HID's are to spot deer! I just let this one run a bit even though it was a slow windy road. Towing with the SDP twins was a blast. And oh yeah got to do the first camp of the year too!
Man thats great. I cant wait to tow with mine on. I run up to 1500 plus in a quarter without a load (wot), and pulling I have to pay attention, but thats the mountains for ya.
I'm really looking forward to some big grades. Soon I'll be going over the cascades and will really put the boost to the test. Towing is effortless with the big tune and boost. I have always played with high EGT's , used water meth and such, but this is really nice!
The gauges are the ISPRO EV2 LMM match gauges. Like that they go with the dash so well. This week I'll be installing the 0-100 psi boost, 0-100psi drive pressure, and keeping the same pyro in a triple pod.
So far it looks like I can get close to 20mpg with a highway mix, but so hard to quit playing with the power. All of Robs tunes are perfect, but the best MPG for me seems to be on the 500 tune so far. I have the 100 psi gauge on now, just need to get out in the dry somewhere to see how much boost I'm making. So far the replacement boot is holding.....
On that last one there was one, but it was off the road enough. Won't be without the HID's with all the two lane roads and critters around here. I did loose a ballest the other day though.
Still need to get out and do more testing. Maybe do a video of each power level or something if I don't get caught....
Motovet, what does that run in the quarter? Not trying to be a douche and myabe im just drunk, but that speedometer doesnt look like it moves nearly as fast as my stock turbo..
The DTC is the P0103 code that keeps coming up when I hit top boost. I'll get with Rob to get that rectified. It only pops up when I am wide open in fifth or higher. As for the quarter Ive yet to hit the strip, but I'm sure the truck is 600+rwh as Rob said it is. Have yet to hit the dyno also. Hard to say from the video, wasn't really going for broke, just trying to see what the top boost was. Also got a tool box full in the back, 40 some gallons of fuel, and the fifth wheel hitch is in there too. I'm sure scale weight is up there. It runs much stronger than the 02' did, and I was around 500rwh with it.
i get the same .
thing happening also , i sent rob an email , did u figure out why it does it ,??? im only seeing 45 psi also , ill wait to see what he has to say
