I just purchased my 2004 DMAX in November and I would appreciate any help you could give about the VIN# 1GTHK231X4F129024. The listing in the window says this truck has 4:10's in the rear end, but when I looked in the owners manual, it describes all Duramax's as having 3:73's. I was hoping someone could tell me if the VIN would indicate if the 4:10's were installed from the factory or dealer. With my dukes of Hazzard style road test, the truck pulls strong off the line but the power seems to fade over 70mph. I've had her up 90mph and was almost redlined. 4:10's actually will work out great for me because I don't see the need to go 100mph in a truck that heavy. since I bought it I've changed all fluids, all filters, had GM replace all the injectors under their extended warranty( Thanks GM, that was a $4000 job done for free), I put 17" H2 wheels with 265/70/17 Nitto Durra Grapplers and I Just ordered a PPE standard and boost valve yesterday, so I can program the tire size and add a little more power. Talk to me and let me know if Im doing right by my truck. I love this thing. Thanks for you help.
