Question Need Tire Advice

Guys,
Have an 08 CC dually. The new 08's come with really small tires on 17" wheels. I am told that the only size larger tire that I can put on it is a 235/80/17.

Can anyone give me any advice on whether or not this is true and if so, what would be the best AT tire I could put on it.

Thanks

I have goodyear wrangler A/T and they are 30.5" on my stock rims without a problem or rubbing.

Well I work at a farm tire place so I would say 235/80-17 should fit ok. You might be able to 245 if you are lucky. And tires are really up to what you wanna do with them. Do you want an AT that is quiet on the road and good traction or loud on the road and great traction or somewhere in the middle? I do like my BFG All Terrains but they are a little loud

I have ran the BFG'S in the past and really liked them. I would like to put them on this dually but BFG told me they don't make a 235/80/17.

The fun never ends. I wish Chevy would have stuck with a 16" rim.

Yeah. Well the Wranglers are a pretty good tire. So are the Firestone Destinations AT's are pretty good too, but i don't think they make a 235/80-17 either. Its kinda an odd size

You can go plenty bigger. They make a spacer that goes between the tires. Lots of guys on here use it so they can put bigger tires on without rubbing. I think there's some guys here runnin like 265's or somewhere round there

if your looking for milage go with the 235. i run 235 on my pickup, better milage, better traction towing in rain and snow, ride nice. i have 235/85/r16's though but really will be the came size weight wise. if your going to be in the mud at all though go for osmething wider, a 265 or 255

They do make 245/75-17 BFG's so if you don't wanna go alot bigger there you go. And I think the rule for duals is 2 inches between them at the bottom? I might be wrong

I wouldn't own the Goodyear Wrangler's again if they gave them to me. I had them on my old truck, rotated them every 5.000 miles and only got 20k out of them. I have very inexpensive Wild Country's now, and I've got almost 20k on them already. They don't look brand new, but more than half of the tread is left. In my opinion, Goodyear's are over-rated and over-priced. For a thousand dollars, I expected a lot more out of mine. Also had the BFG's, and they didn't last either. Only about 30k on those. Never hauled much on the BFG's, so that's not what wore them. It has been my experience that the less expensive tire, the better.
