I have always run bfg allterains and love them. I changed to nitto terra graplers because they were cheaper and everyone brags on them and so far I like them as well and they might even be a little quieter.

why is everyone so worried about a a load range E!!!??? I have to ask this because they always are looking for a tire that they like and cant find or what not.... the difference between a Load Range D and a Load Range E is so minimal that you will never know and your choices of tire great open up by dropping to a load range D.... rant over
Now with that said, depending on how you use your truck wil determine the best tire for you

the big difference is notthe max weight its the fact that E has 2 more ply's in the sidwall making is much stronger. class e is the only way to go. i wanted to get F for my pickup but would have had to go to a 19.5 rim and they dont look very good.

My Interco Vortrac (intercos new and only A/T) has a thicker sidewall than any other tire I have ever seen A/T wise at least.... its only a D rated....
i just bought my d max and the previous owner bought the wrong tire he bought 8 ply nitto terra grapplers i just put 2k on them on the rear ones and they are peeling on the inside never again will i have nitto on my rig shuld have 10 ply tires note to self is never ceap out on tires
i have always ran the BFG KO's but i recently switched to the extreme all terrains and i like these better..... they perform better off-road because of the more aggressive tread
Right now I run General Grabber AT2 tires.... I have no complaints at all, they aren't that expensive and have the same tread pattern as BFGoodrich. They are also Snow and Mountain rated and have a 50,000 mile tread life plus warranty. I am upgrading to 285 tires in the spring, and it's hard to find 285 generals......so I looked at some other tires. I really didn't come up with a good other tire....so we'll see what happens. But you can't go wrong with General Grabbers....they are good tires and look Aggresive. Plus they are Load range E.

its the number of ply's that is important

Just checked out that tire company....WOW do they make some awesome freaking tires. I think I might consider the SSR. I know it's a super swamper, but my biggest thing when buying tires is, Snow and Ice performance....and these are made to run in both...Wow....I'm going to call them and see what their expected life is...

Yea, now i'm looking at tires and I can't decide on them. Either Toyo Open Country or the BF's A/T or the Perrelli Scorpion ATR. Unless anyone else has an idea, i tow some. But not a whole lotta weight and I drive 30 hwy miles to work then back plus some. I'm due for my winter tires anyhow.
