When you go bigger, does it affect power or performance, or are these close enough there is no real effect in that department?

I am going to level the truck.. either the ReadyLift or Cognito.. so I don't think space will come in to play.. Also planning on the stock rims.

I have my bars cranked up some (just raised the from about an inch to an inch and a half) and I was planning on putting some 285's on 18's. From all the threads I've read, it should be fine with no trimming. I haven't done it yet though (lack of dough). : (

and more to come hopefully..... like tow mirrors, Line-X bedliner, and a CAI...
I have the Readylift keys an 285's have zero problems take it the woods hunting with pretty good flex at times and tight turns and have never had an issue. oh and I am using the stock rims.

I had 285 then wore them out went to 265's sold them andwent back to 285 for looks.
Personally, there is little performance difference betweent he two. But, the 265 gets about 1-2 mpg better mileage than the 285 does. I dont drive mine all the time so I was ok with the loss. If you drive it everyday and want to save fuel the 265 is where you want to go.

The 07.5+ trucks have a closer bumper than the older ones. Also the whol bumper is metal and cant be trimmed like the old body style. I know I had to crank the t bars and do some trimming to get my 285's to fit on my truck.

I have the Truxxx leveling kit 3+1 with 285's on 16's. I have minimum rubbing (when backing up and turning) with the torsion bars cranked to 2 inches of the 3 available. Trimming 1/2" off the rear fenderwell helps.
I still have gotten about 20.5mpg on the highway with this setup, but the in-town mileage has dropped to 15.5-16.5mpg.

Strange, why would the smaller tire give less milage, would think it the opposite.. larger tire, more distance per turn of the hub...
