What new rims for my 08. Looking at the moto metals the 951 in chrome in 17 rims. They have a 4.5 back space and --12mm off set if I remember correclty. I do not want them to stick outside any more then the stockers do. Dont want to add flares unless absolutly mandatory. But dont like rock chips either. I would also like to go up to 285s. I have t bars turned up about 2 inches to level front. Will these work? And how much rubbing will there be. I rub a little at full lock now on mud flaps. Can trim more though. I have factory 265 70 17s on now. If these rims dont work what kind of offsets and backspacing should I look into. Sorry lots of questions. Thanks

I dont have an 08 so i dont have advice for you but i just bought some 17's for my 05 and its amazing when it comes to tires how much cheaper they are in the 17's rather than the 18's. it saved me prolly $500 hundred just goin an inch smaller on my wheels for the same 33x11.5 tires.

What size 285's are you considering?
285/75R17 - 33.8" diameter
285/70R17 - 32.7" diameter
285/65R17 - 31.6" diameter - same as stock
I think you'll be hard pressed to fit the 285/75R17 even with the bars cranked up all the way.
-12mm offset will stick out about 1.5" more than the stock offset, not to mention the tires are wider. You could end up with the tires hanging out 2" more than the stockers.
I don't have enough experience with the NBS trucks to know if you will need flares to cover up the excess overhang. Sorry about that.

I do not think the 285-70-17 will clear the 08 stock without a leveling kit. I have been looking into gettgin new tires and wheels as well and the only ones that should clear stock are the 285-60-18 or the 285-50-20. Personally I think any thing else will rub and you will have to either trim or trim and level.

I just ran the numbers you had talked about 285-70-17 on 17x10 with -12 offest and this is what it says assuming that stock is 265-70-17 on a 17x8 with a +28 offset.
Suspension
Assuming that this is OEM wheel/tire and there is no any problems with clearance on both sides 100% clear (leaves even more room than OEM) Fenders
Package will stick out 50 mm (2'') farther. Make sure that you have enough room under the fender. If not, consider narrower tires or higher offset. Wheelwells
Will fill out the wheelwell by extra 14 mm. Make sure that you have enough room under the fender. If not, consider lower profiles or smaller rims.
